Elravie Re2O Skin Booster in London: The ECM Injectable That Replenishes What Ageing Skin Has Lost
Medically reviewed by Dr Vahe Karimyan MD, MS, PhD | Medical Director, Dr Vahe Clinic, Chelsea | Updated September 2026 | 9 min read
Elravie Re2O, often written RE20, is a regenerative skin booster made from human acellular dermal matrix (hADM). Unlike hyaluronic acid boosters that hydrate, or polynucleotides that signal repair, Re2O delivers the structural building blocks of the dermis, chiefly collagen and elastin, directly into the skin. It has become one of the most requested injectables in Seoul since its 2024 launch, and Dr Vahe Clinic now offers Re2O in Chelsea for patients seeking firmer, denser, better-quality skin.
What is Elravie Re2O?
Re2O is an injectable skin booster composed of micronised human acellular dermal matrix. In plain terms, it is donated human dermal tissue that has been processed to remove every cell, lipid and immunogenic component, leaving behind the pure extracellular matrix (ECM): the three-dimensional scaffold of collagen, elastin, proteoglycans and glycoproteins that gives young skin its firmness, spring and density.
The product is developed by L&C Bio, a Korean regenerative medicine company, and distributed by Humedix under the Elravie name. The tissue is purified using a patented decellularisation process (AlloClean technology) and then ground into fine particles that can be delivered through a 32G needle or cannula. Each syringe contains 150 mg of ECM powder that is reconstituted immediately before treatment.
Acellular dermal matrix is not new to medicine. Surgeons have used it for many years in breast reconstruction, abdominal wall repair and complex wound healing. What is new is the application of the same biomaterial, in micronised injectable form, to aesthetic skin rejuvenation. That is why Re2O is often described as a "fifth generation" or "ECM generation" skin booster. The generational label is marketing rather than a formal classification, but it does capture a real shift in how we think about regenerative injectables.

How Re2O works in the skin
To understand why Re2O is different, it helps to understand what actually happens to skin as it ages. From our late twenties onwards, fibroblast activity slows, collagen production falls by roughly one per cent per year, elastin fibres fragment and the ECM becomes thinner and more disorganised. The result is loss of dermal density, fine crepiness, enlarged-looking pores and the gradual laxity that precedes visible sagging.
Most injectables address this indirectly:
Hyaluronic acid boosters such as Profhilo hydrate the dermis and provide a bio-remodelling stimulus.
Polynucleotides and PRP send repair signals that encourage fibroblasts to work harder.
Biostimulators such as Sculptra trigger a controlled foreign-body response that results in new collagen over several months.
Re2O takes a structural approach. It places human collagen, elastin and ECM proteins physically into the dermis, where they act in two phases:
Immediate scaffolding. The injected matrix provides physical support and increases dermal density from the first session. Many patients notice improved texture and firmness within days once initial swelling settles.
Regenerative integration. Over the following weeks, resident fibroblasts migrate into and remodel the matrix, laying down new collagen and elastin around it. Because the material is human-derived and fully acellular, the skin recognises it as "self" rather than as a foreign implant, which is why immune reactions are rare. Peak improvement is typically seen at four to eight weeks.
In practical terms, Re2O rebuilds the foundation of the skin. That is why Korean practitioners increasingly use it as the base layer of a regenerative plan, with energy devices and other injectables layered on top.

Re2O vs polynucleotides, Profhilo and Sculptra
Re2O: Human acellular dermal matrix (collagen, elastin, ECM proteins). Directly replenishes dermal structure, then stimulates remodelling. Best for thinning, crepey or lax skin; density loss; pores; post-device recovery.
Polynucleotides: Purified DNA fragments (salmon-derived). Signals fibroblast repair and reduces inflammation. Best for under-eye, sensitive or inflamed skin, early ageing.
Profhilo: High and low molecular weight hyaluronic acid. Hydration and bio-remodelling. Best for dull, dehydrated skin; overall glow.
Sculptra: Poly-L-lactic acid. Foreign-body collagen stimulation over months. Best for volume loss, deeper structural support.
These are complementary rather than competing tools. In clinic we frequently combine Re2O with polynucleotides for patients who need both structure and repair signalling, or use Re2O as a foundation before energy-based skin tightening so that the dermis responds more robustly to heat. Re2O also pairs well with neuromodulators and fillers as part of a full-face plan.
Who is Re2O for?
Re2O is most suitable for adults who have noticed:
Reduced firmness and early laxity of the cheeks, jawline or neck
Crepey, thin or "papery" skin texture, particularly on the lower face, neck and hands
Enlarged-looking pores and uneven texture that have not responded to topical care
Dermal thinning from age, weight loss, GLP-1 medication or sun exposure
A wish to strengthen the skin before or after laser, radiofrequency or HIFU treatment
It is generally not the right first choice for patients whose main concern is dehydration alone, or who require volume restoration, where hyaluronic acid boosters or fillers respectively are more appropriate. Re2O is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, in active skin infection at the treatment site, or in patients with a known hypersensitivity to human tissue-derived products. Every patient is assessed individually, and Dr Vahe will always recommend the option that best fits your anatomy and goals, even if that is not Re2O.

Re2O skin booster London: treatment at Dr Vahe Clinic, Chelsea
Consultation and skin analysis. Every Re2O journey starts with a medical consultation and OBSERV 520x skin analysis, which allows us to visualise dermal density, texture and vascular patterns beneath the surface and to document a true baseline for comparison.
The procedure. Topical anaesthetic is applied. Re2O is then reconstituted and administered using a combination of micro-depot injections and, in delicate zones such as the under-eye or neck, a blunt cannula to minimise bruising. The treatment itself takes around 30 minutes.
Downtime. Expect mild swelling and small papules at the injection points for 24 to 72 hours, with occasional pinpoint bruising. Most patients return to work the same or next day. Make-up can be applied after 24 hours.
Protocol. For most patients we recommend an initial course of two to three sessions spaced four weeks apart, followed by a maintenance session every six to nine months. Patients with more advanced dermal thinning, or those preparing for energy-based treatment, may benefit from a slightly more intensive plan.
Results. Early improvement in texture and density is often visible within one to two weeks. The full regenerative effect builds over four to eight weeks as new collagen and elastin form around the matrix. Because the injected material is integrated rather than dissolved, results tend to be sustained well beyond those of conventional hydration boosters.

Frequently asked questions about Re2O
Is Re2O safe? It comes from human tissue.
Yes. The hADM used in Re2O is sourced from screened human donors and processed to remove all cells, lipids and immunogenic material, leaving only the structural matrix. Acellular dermal matrix has been used in reconstructive surgery for decades. Because the remaining proteins are human, the risk of allergic reaction is lower than with animal-derived collagen products. As with any injectable, a medical consultation is essential.
How is Re2O different from Profhilo?
Profhilo is hyaluronic acid and works primarily by hydrating and stimulating the skin. Re2O contains no hyaluronic acid as its primary component; it delivers real collagen and elastin into the dermis to rebuild structure. Many patients benefit from both, used at different stages of their plan.
How many Re2O sessions do I need?
Most patients see meaningful change after a single session, but we recommend a course of two to three sessions four weeks apart for the best and most durable result, followed by maintenance every six to nine months.
How long does Re2O last?
Because the matrix is integrated into the skin and remodelled by your own fibroblasts, improvements in density and elasticity are typically sustained for many months. Individual results depend on age, skin condition, lifestyle and sun protection.
Can Re2O be used under the eyes or on the neck?
Yes. Re2O is well suited to thin-skinned areas such as the lower eyelid, neck, décolletage and hands, where dermal thinning is most visible. In these zones Dr Vahe uses a cannula technique to minimise bruising.
Can I combine Re2O with laser or radiofrequency?
Absolutely. Re2O is frequently used as a foundation treatment before energy-based skin tightening, or afterwards to accelerate dermal recovery. We will sequence the treatments for you at consultation.
